The NC State Extension Master Gardeners of Wake County invite youth and adult uniquely abled friends to a special event to explore interest in ongoing sessions. Our Therapeutic Horticulture program focuses on the well-being of participants, using plants as a tool for connection.

What is Therapeutic Horticulture?
Therapeutic Horticulture uses plant-based activities to improve well-being, including:
Enhancing fine motor skills
Boosting mental health
Encouraging creativity & sensory engagement
Improving cognitive function
Fostering personal growth & self-satisfaction
Activities can be indoors or outdoors, such as:
Exploring seed sizes & shapes
Tasting different apples or tomatoes
Learning about seasonal vegetables
Crafting with pine cones
Touching and smelling herbs to learn their benefits
Growing a sensory or herb garden
