Lament Service Tonight 6:15-6:45
This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted because they are no more.” Jeremiah 31:15
As news of death from yet another mass shooting travels to us from Uvalde, Texas, it is tempting to allow ourselves to become numb to protect ourselves from pain. For the sake of our humanity, we must not. Numbness leads to silence, and silence leads to acceptance. This violence is not acceptable. In prayer, we express our common hope in a healed world and our Christian hope in the presence of Christ even in dark places.
Join Pastor Mitzi and Dr. Jon Tschanz for a candlelight Service of Lament tonight 6:15-6:45 in the sanctuary to mourn the continued tragic loss of life as a result of mass shootings.
The service will also be available via livestream on the Soapstone UMC YouTube channel.
