Get Trained to be on an Early Response Team!
We would like to have a trained Early Response Team ready to help in Western NC when the call for help comes. ERTs are not a first-response group of emergency workers, nor are they recovery, rebuild, or repair teams. Under very specific guidelines, ERTs assist survivors without causing further harm or being a burden to the affected community. Interested? Sign up for a basic ERT training or recertification class on October 12 from 8 am – 4 pm at the NC Conference Office in Garner.  If you plan to attend, please notify Pastor Damion. Read more here.

The goal of our Emergency and Disaster Response Ministry is to provide aid to those people affected by natural disasters both within our state and across the region. To kick off this new ministry and ensure Soapstone is equipped to mobilize quickly in the aftermath of a disaster, the 2017 Christmas Challenge raised funds to purchase and stock an Emergency Response Trailer. In addition to serving as a tool for emergency response, this trailer will be utilized by adult and youth mission teams like those who recently served in Tarboro. It will also be available for other construction-related assistance like MERCI missions, aiding our elderly or sick congregation members with repairs or wheelchair ramp construction, or in response to a crisis in the community like assisting with clean up after a house fire.

Several times per year we have partnered with Carolina Rebuilding. Read more on upcoming trips (if planned) here.
