Dementia Workshop

Speaker: Lisa Levine, Senior Director of Programs, Dementia Alliance of North Carolina

More than 180,000 people in North Carolina are affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s, and these numbers are expected to increase to 210,000 by the year 2025. We here at Soapstone UMC care deeply about the individuals and families in our church and community whose lives are affected by dementia, which is why with the help of the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, we are offering this workshop.

During our time together Lisa will answer questions such as:
What is the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia?
What is “normal” aging and what is not?
Myths and misconceptions about Dementia.
Warning signs of dementia and what should we do if we think there is a problem.
Specific care issues.
How to support someone who is a caregiver.
The importance of support groups.
There will be plenty of time to ask your own questions so please come and join us as we all learn more about how to support and care for our families and friends who are impacted by dementia.
