Confirmation

Confirmation is an important marker along our spiritual journeys. At Baptism, we are initiated into the new covenant in Jesus Christ and membership in the Church. For many, this happens when they are very young. Confirmation is an opportunity for students in the seventh grade and above to respond to the Grace of God available to us, as acknowledged in baptism, and to promise to live as a person of faith.

Throughout the school year the Confirmands and their mentors will gather Sunday mornings and during some special events for fun, learning, and growing closer to each other and closer to God.

Topics include:

  • Am I ready for Confirmation?
  • Fellowship and service events
  • What We Believe as followers of Jesus Christ in the Wesleyan tradition
  • How we live out our faith
  • Spring Retreats
  • Mentorship process*

Confirmation is open to anyone in 7th grade or older.

*Each Confirmand should have a mentor. Mentors are adult members of the Congregation who walk alongside the youth on their Confirmation journey. We want each youth to ask an adult themselves to serve as their confirmation mentor.

September 27, 2026, 9:45 am – 10:45 am in Room 202

Confirmation Class Dates/Times
(Confirmation class will meet 2x a month (on average) – Eat lunch and then hold the lesson/activity.)
 Meeting Dates: Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Dec. 13, Dec. 20, Jan. 3, Jan. 24, Feb. 7, Feb. 21, Mar. 21, Apr. 4, Apr. 18.
Meeting Times: 12:15 pm – 2:30 pm

Fall Retreat (Tentative Schedule)
Friday, October 9, 6:30-9:30 pm, and Saturday, October 10, 9:30 am-4:30 pm at Soapstone UMC.

Trip to Beth Temple Or: November 6. Meet promptly at 5315 Creedmoor Rd at 6:15 pm for a worship service.

Spring Retreat: March 5-7, 2027, Camp Chestnut Ridge

Confirmation Service Rehearsal: May 9, 9:45-10:45 am, 2027

Confirmation Service: May 16, 2027, 11 am worship service
