Weekend Meals for Students — bring food the 2nd Sunday of each month
The BackPack Buddy Program serves children who are food insecure, meaning they do not have “access at all times to enough food for an active, healthy life.”
This program targets children identified as “food insecure” by teachers and school counselors. Each week North Raleigh Ministries provides weekend food for 150 children from 6 elementary schools! (Baileywick, Brassfield, Green, Lead Mine, Millbrook, and Stough)
Each backpack consists of enough food to prepare 6 meals & 2 snacks. If food is not donated, it could cost up to $1,000 per week to fill the backpacks!
All children should come to school nourished and ready to learn.
No child should be hungry in our community.
The Mission Committee of Soapstone invites you to contribute items for the backpacks the 2nd Sunday of each month. We’ll have a collection box in the narthex.
