Nursery
Ages birth through KindergartenA Safe, Fun, Place for All of God’s Little Children
Hi families and welcome to the Soapstone UMC Nursery!
We invite you and your little ones that have not started Kindergarten yet to come join us. We love imaginary play with an array of toys, and on beautiful days we love to be outside on the playground. We have age-appropriate toys for your child to play with that are sanitized after each use.
The nursery always has 1 adult worker in the room and 1 or 2 (sometimes more) youth workers. We keep the faces of our workers consistent so you and your children get to know us and so we can get to know them.

About our Coordinators
Rebecca Mitchell – Hi Nursery Families! I have been attending Soapstone since 2006 and became the Nursery Coordinator January 2022-May 2024, then back October 2025. I have been married to my husband Chris for 25 years and we have 3 children, Grace (21), Caden (19), & Riley (18). All 3 of my children attended preschool here and were very active in the Nursery, Sunday school & Kids Rock. I am very passionate about our church and those that come into the nursery. I strive to have a welcoming safe space for all that enter, so you can spend your time Worshiping and enjoying the word of God.
Michelle Partsch – Hello nursery families! I attended Soapstone from 2004-2009 (during which time I volunteered as a Toddler/Twos Sunday School teacher) and again since moving back to Raleigh in 2024. A former Soapstone Preschool parent, I joined the staff this year as the TK assistant teacher. I have been married to my husband Torsten for 22 years and we have 3 children: Jennah (21), Jane (19), and John (12). I am passionate about fostering your children’s connection to Soapstone, and hope that spending time with us in the nursery gives them a sense of love, value, and belonging!
Fun things to plan your visit!
When dropping your child off in the nursery, we have a check-in station right outside the door where families can leave their contact information, allergies, and anything else you feel our caregivers should be aware of. Hooks are available just outside of the classroom for diaper bags and backpacks. Nursery helpers are available Sunday mornings to greet you with a warm welcome and a listening ear for any additional questions or concerns.
