8:30 Praise Service Returns Indoors this Sunday
At our October Church Council meeting on Tuesday night, Pastor Mitzi and the Church Council have agreed that this Sunday, October 24, Soapstone’s 8:30 a.m. worship service will resume meeting in the Sanctuary. Let us rejoice that in Wake County, the Covid test positivity rate now hovers around 4%, below the 5% threshold health officials say is the target to slow the spread of the virus. Hospitalizations have dropped markedly in the past two weeks. 70% of people in Wake County are fully vaccinated and 73% have received at least one shot.
This change also coincides with the onset of cooler weather. Last Sunday it was 47 degrees at 8:30 a.m. and while we may still have some warm Sundays in October, we hope you will appreciate the need to establish a consistent routine for worship as much as possible.
We are still under a mask mandate in Wake County. Masks are required to be worn in the Church by all who are 3 years and older. Exceptions apply when eating or drinking, leading worship in the chancel distanced from the congregation, or when working alone.
My sincerest thanks go to our Praise team, Chip Shea (AV), worship volunteers (ushers, greeters, communion servers, and worship committee), and staff for pivoting to outdoor worship for the last two months. Thank you for helping us keep our congregation safe.
Rev. Mitzi Johnson
