Katie CableAdministrative Assistant, Sexton & Nursery Coordinator
You will find Katie Cable in many areas at Soapstone. She began working at SUMC in 2010, in the nursery. However, her work day begins as an administrative assistant in the office each morning then she moves into her sexton duties every afternoon. On Sunday’s she gets to pursue her passion as she plays and watches over our young church attendees serving as one of SUMC’s nursery co-coordinators.
Katie has been a member of Soapstone since 2010 participating in many of the children and youth activities like Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Kids Rock, Tweens, United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF), and the Scout programs. Through her service, Katie has discovered her strong gift for teaching young children about the Bible and supporting our youth as they grow into young adults. Most recently she as enjoyed what God has called her to do through the art ministry here at SUMC by stepping out of the box and really exploring the many colors and textures God provides for each of us. This year she also has been a part of a special ministry taking care of our congregation, by creating prayers shawls, cooking meals, and sending cards to those who need extra love and support.
She considers SUMC her family’s second home and cherishes her church family. When not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her family making new memories even if it’s just working in the yard together or cooking up something yummy in the kitchen. She is married to Greg, who is a long-time church member and they have three children: Carter, Luke and Sydney.
